Knights Fall to Central 83-60 on the Road

PELLA, Iowa – Men's basketball fell to Central College 83-60 on the road Saturday, Jan. 20. The Knights are now 3-15 overall and 2-7 in American Rivers Conference play.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • Isaac Besh got the scoring started with a jumper, but Central answered quick and led 10-4 four minutes into the game
    • Wartburg responded with a jumpshot from Ethan Yungtum and a three pointer from Gabe Trujillo to make it 12-9 Central just one minute later
    • Carter Cuvelier stopped a Dutch 5-0 run with a 5-0 run of his own, but Central continued to make threes and led 24-14 with 10:05 left in the first
    • Cuvelier scored the next eight Knights points, but Central stretched its lead to 38-22 with just over five minutes remaining
    • Wartburg went on an 8-3 run with all points scored by Luke Ladwig
    • Central led 50-36 at halftime
  • Second Half
    • The Knights started the second half with a layup from Marshun Williams and a three pointer from Ladwig to cut the lead below 10
    • Central retained its lead with a 15-5 run to go ahead 65-46 with 14:47
      • Cuvelier scored all five of the Knights points during the run
    • Trent Allard and Yungtum both scored to cut the lead down to 74-51 with under 10 minutes to play
    • Isaac Besh, Cuvelier and Williams all scored from the free throw line over the next five minutes
    • Brody Bauer and Jayden Maten scored the final points of the game for Wartburg to make the final score 83-60 Central
