Women's Soccer Blank Luther 2-0

WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's soccer pushed its American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) win streak to four after a 2-0 home victory over Luther College. The Knights are now 4-0 in A-R-C play and move to 8-4-2 overall, while Luther moves to 1-6-5 overall and 1-2-1 in A-R-C play.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • Luther had two shots in the first 10 minutes deflect off the crossbar and go off target
    • Sami Webster recorded the first shot on goal of the match in the 25th minute
    • The Knights had five corner kick opportunities in the final 15 minutes of the half, but Luther's defense was able to keep the match scoreless headed into halftime
  • Second Half
    • Webster recorded two more shots on goal that were both saved in the first 10 minutes of the second half
    • The Knights broke the scoreless tie in the 61st minute when Lauren Kirkle beat the defense and made a pass to a slashing Greta Rothe who buried the shot in the net to make it 1-0
    • Wartburg added another goal just nine minutes later when Skyler Oldenburg beat the keeper after assists from both Kenna Hemann and Webster
    • The Knights continued to attack as Hemann and Kirkle both fired shots on goal that were saved by Luther
    • The score held and Wartburg closed out a 2-0 win over Luther
