Men's Soccer Shutout Simpson 3-0 on Senior Day

WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer blanked Simpson 3-0 at home on Saturday, Oct. 26 to wrap up senior day. The Knights are now 8-4-4 overall and 5-2 in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • Simpson recorded an off target shot in the seventh minute and then Curtis Ratzer's header went high and off target after a corner kick in the ninth minute
    • Alima Mmunga had a shot blocked and then shortly after Lwings Kabula recorded the first shot on goal of the match
      • Kabula's shot was saved by Simpson
    • In the 21st minute, Flori Gembo took a free kick that was deflected by Carson Kay over to Kabula, who finished the play with a score to put Wartburg ahead 1-0
    • Henry Eckert made his first save of the match in the 26th minute
    • The Knights added another goal late in the first half after Sam McDevitt's corner kick led to a goal from Kay to make it 2-0
      • Itsuki Ebisawa fired a shot on goal in the final minute that was saved and the Knights took a 2-0 lead into halftime
  • Second Half
    • Wartburg continued to keep up the offensive pressure as they added another goal in the 50th minute when Gembo's shot snuck past the keeper to make it 3-0
    • Gembo had another shot on goal in the 61st minute that was saved and then Eckert made a save for the Knights in the 65th minute
    • Eckert made another save in the 70th minute and then Ebisawa recorded another shot on goal minutes later
    • Eli Followwill and Blake Halleran recorded shots late, but were unable to add any more scores as the Knights took a 3-0 win
