GRINNELL, Iowa – Wartburg men's basketball went on the road and defeated Grinnell College 123-111 on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The Knights were led by career scoring days from
Marshun Williams,
Gabe Trujillo and
Ethan Yungtum as well as a triple double from
Drake Wemark.
Game Summary
- First Half
- The first five minutes of action were back and forth scoring from both teams to make the score 16-16 early
- Over the next five minutes of play Wartburg stretched its lead to 16 points after eight points from Marshun Williams along with five from Drake Wemark and Yungtum
- The Pioneers went on a 21-9 run to cut Wartburg's lead to four before a Williams three ball put the Knights ahead by seven with 5:08 left in the half
- Grinnell continued its run and closed the half on a 24-17 run to put Grinnell in front 71-68 headed into halftime
- Second Half
- The Knights began the half on a 14-10 run to retake the lead with just under 15 minutes left to play
- Williams and Trujillo both had six to lead the Wartburg run
- A balanced scoring attack from Wemark, Yungtum and Williams kept the Knights in front 96-90 with 10:01 left to play
- A Grinnell three pointer cut the Wartburg lead to 105-101 with six minutes left in the game
- The Knights closed the game on a 18-13 run led by seven points from Trujillo to take a 123-111 win over the Pioneers
