Men's Basketball Win 85-70 on the Road Over Principia

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Men's basketball went on the road and defeated Principia College 85-70 on Saturday, Nov. 23. The win brings Wartburg to 4-1 overall and moves Principia to 1-4 overall.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • Marshun Williams scored seven of the Knights' first 10 points along with a Richie Rosenblum three pointer to give Wartburg a 10-9 lead five minutes into the game
    • Williams scored another seven quick points for the Knights and then Gabe Trujillo scored the next four points to make the score 21-11 with just under 10 minutes left in the half
    • Lyle Olsen converted a three-point play for the Knights, but the Panthers started to cut into the lead and Wartburg led 28-24 with 5:48 left in the half
    • Ethan Yungtum made two threes late in the half for Wartburg to give the Knights a 41-31 lead at the break
  • Second Half
    • Williams, Luke Ladwig and Rosenblum all scored in the paint for Wartburg to begin the second half as the Knights stretched the lead to 17 points
    • Williams, Isaac Besh and Rosenblum all connected from three-point range to give Wartburg a 59-38 lead with 14:49 left in the half
    • Wartburg continued to stay hot behind the arc as Dominic Braet made back-to-back three pointers followed by a three from Ladwig to make the score 70-52 with under 10 minutes to go
    • Besh made another three and then Williams reached 30 points after a layup with 5:50 to play
    • Trujillo scored the final five points as the Knights closed out an 85-70 win on the road
