Men's Basketball Win A-R-C Opener 67-58 Over Luther

DECORAH, Iowa – Men's basketball (5-1, 1-0 A-R-C) began American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play with a 67-58 road win over Luther College (1-4, 0-1 A-R-C) on Saturday, Nov. 26.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • Marshun Williams scored the first six points of the night after two layups and two free throws gave Wartburg a 6-0 lead two minutes into the game
    • Luther scored 11 of the next 20 total points to cut Wartburg's lead to 15-11 with 12:25 left in the half
    • Wartburg continued to stay in front after a 13-9 run made the score 28-22 with 6:20 left in the first
    • Williams scored four points and Luke Ladwig went 3/3 from the free throw line to close the half with Wartburg leading 35-30
  • Second Half
    • Luther scored six early points in the second half, but a Rosenblum three pointer stopped the run as Wartburg held a 38-36 lead with 16 minutes to go
    • Dominic Braet and Besh both connected with three pointers to put Wartburg ahead by seven with 10:37 to play
    • A Ladwig layup followed by three Besh free throws gave Wartburg a 52-42 lead just minutes later
    • Lyle Olsen and Yungtum both made three pointers for the Knights to keep the lead in double digits with four minutes to play
    • Luther shrunk the lead to as low as five with a minute to play, but the Knights held off the Norse with free throws from Besh and Rosenblum to close out a 67-58 win on the road
