WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's basketball continued American Rivers Conference play on Wednesday, Feb. 7 with a 79-52 loss to the University of Dubuque. The Knights fall to 2-12 in A-R-C play and 3-20 overall.
 
Game Summary

• First Half
  • UD jumped out to a 10-0 lead two minutes into the game before an Ethan Yungtum three stopped the run
  • With 14:27 left in the first half, Isaac Besh made a three to cut the UD lead to 14-6 and then a minute later Carter Cuvelier connected from deep to make the score 14-9
  • The Spartans went back up by 11 points, but Besh found an open Gabe Trujillo for three to cut it back to 20-12
  • Brody Bauer made a jumper before Trent Allard and Marshun Williams both scored in the paint but Dubuque still led 27-18 with 8:20 left in the first half
    • Trujillo's second three of the night cut the UD lead to six just 30 seconds later
  • UD went on an 11-2 run to take a 38-23 lead with under five minutes left in the half
  • Yungtum scored a layup, but the Knights closed the half on a 2-6 run that left them down 41-25 at the break
• Second Half
  • Williams scored the first three points of the half for the Knights to make the score 43-28 just over one minute into the half
  • Minutes later, a Williams three ball cut the UD lead to 15 but the Spartans answered right away to keep the lead at 17 points with just over 15 minutes to play
  • After layups from Luke Ladwig and Williams the Knights went on an almost four minute scoring drought
    • A layup from Yungtum and then a three from Bauer stopped the drought and made the score 58-42 with over 10 minutes to remaining
  • Richie Rosenblum and Bauer both drilled three pointers to cut the lead to 13, but UD answered with a three and then six straight points in the paint
  • Allard scored the final two points for the Knights at the line and UD closed out a 79-52 win
