ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky.-- The Wartburg softball team split its games on the first day of the Pioneer Classic. The Knights lost 13-5 in six innings to No. 1 Trine, but won 7-6 over Calvin.

- The Thunder plated six for an early lead.

- This remained the score until Wehde hit a solo roundtripper to left centerfield.
- The Thunder plated another in their next at-bats.

- Link hit a two-run single to rightfield to make it 9-5.

- First
- Wartburg jumped to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, thanks to an RBI single up the middle from Link and a three-run home run from Wiebenga.
- Second
- Calvin got on the board with one run on an error.
- Third
- Calvin added another in the third on a sac fly to make it 4-2.
- Fourth
- Calvin plated one as it capitalized on an error.
- The Orange and Black pushed the margin to two on an RBI single from Springer.
- Sixth
- Calvin scored the go-ahead runs on an RBI single and a two-run single to make it 6-5.
- Wartburg evened the game on an RBI single down the left field line by Reagan Hassel and reclaimed the lead on Springer's double to right center.
- Seventh
- Calvin's first two batters were retired, and the next two batters hit singles. With two outs and runners on first and second, the next batter hit into a fielder's choice, and the lead runner was caught in a rundown between third and home. They were tagged out to end the rally and seal the win for Wartburg.
