Knights split Sunday's games

ST. LOUIS—The Wartburg softball team (9-8 overall) split its Sunday games at WashU's Tournament. The Knights defeated Spalding 6-1, but were edged 4-3 to host-WashU in the finale.

Spalding
First inning
  • The Knights took the early 2-0 lead on a suicide squeeze from Ella Link and an RBI single from Tarah Wehde.
  • The Golden Eagles sliced the margin in half on a bases loaded walk
 
Third
  • The Orange and Black added one as Link scored from second on a single through the left side from Reegan Deputy
  • Spalding had a runner on third, but was left stranded as the next two batters struck out
Sixth
  • Link drove in two on her single through the left side to make it 5-1

  • Fellows: 3-4, two runs, one RBI, two stolen bases
  • Hassel: 3-4, one run
  • Wehde: 2-3
