ST. LOUIS—The Wartburg softball team (9-8 overall) split its Sunday games at WashU's Tournament. The Knights defeated Spalding 6-1, but were edged 4-3 to host-WashU in the finale.

Spalding
First inning

• The Knights took the early 2-0 lead on a suicide squeeze from Ella Link and an RBI single from Tarah Wehde.
• The Golden Eagles sliced the margin in half on a bases loaded walk

 
Third

• The Orange and Black added one as Link scored from second on a single through the left side from Reegan Deputy
• Spalding had a runner on third, but was left stranded as the next two batters struck out

Sixth

• Link drove in two on her single through the left side to make it 5-1

Seventh

• Sydney Fellows plated  Reagan Hassel on her bunt single for the final run

First inning

• Fellows gave the Knights the early 2-0 lead with her two-run home run to left centerfield.

Second

• The Bears tied it with two runs in the top of the inning
• Wartburg had the go-ahead run in its next at-bat as Springer drove in Deputy on her single up the middle to make it 3-1

Sixth

• WashU reclaimed the lead on a wild pitch and an RBI double

Seventh

• The Orange and Black were unable to advance a baserunner past second to end the threat
