Knights split with Eagles

WAVERLY, Iowa--  The Wartburg softball team (10-9 overall) split the doubleheader with UW-La Crosse Thursday. The Knights were the visiting team in these contests.

Game one
First inning
  • Knights get on the board as Sydney Fellows scored from second on an error
  • Eagles evened it in the bottom on an RBI single
  • Ashley Nelson came in with the bases loaded and stranded all three Eagles
Second
  • The Orange and Black took the 4-1 lead
  • Springer drove in Hassel and Lili Alvarado sacrificed in Bredar
  • Springer later scored on Fellow's groundout
Third
  • Eagles plate one on RBI double to right centerfield
Top performers
  • Bredar: 2-3, one run, double, two stolen bases
  • First win over UWL since 2009

First
  • Wartburg scores on two bases loaded walk for 2-0 lead
  • UWL ties it on a two-run homer over the right field fence
  • Two batters later, another home run to the same spot gave the Eagles the 4-2 lead
  • UWL hit an RBI single to third for the next run
  • An Eagle RBI groundout to make it 6-2

  • Reegan Deputy brings in Wehde  on her single to left
  • Carley Bredar drove in pinch runner Ally Happ to make it 6-4.
  • The Eagles had an RBI double to right center followed by an RBI single to make it 8-4.

  • UWL tallied one on an error to make it 9-4

  • Reagan Hassel's single up the middle drove in Deputy.
  • The Eagles hit a three-run homer over the right field fence to make it 12-5.
