MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Men's soccer battled the Milwaukee School of Enginnering (MSOE) to a 2-2 draw on the road in a back and forth match on Sunday, Sept. 1. The Knights move to 1-0-1 overall while the Raiders move to 0-1-1 overall.
Match Summary
- First Half
- Alima Mmunga recorded the first shot of the match in the 11th minute, but his on-target shot was saved by the MSOE keeper
- Minutes later, it was Aidan Mott who fired an on-target attempt that was also saved by MSOE's Asher Harris
- MSOE's offense got its first attempt of the match in the 15th minute that was saved by Henry Eckert
- Three minutes later, Danny Aranda from MSOE broke the tie to put the Raiders up 1-0 in the 18th minute
- After a Mason Yeatts shot was blocked, the Knights drew a penalty in the 42nd minute
- Curtis Ratzer beat the keeper on his penalty kick attempt to tie the match at 1-1 before half
- Second Half
- The Knights wasted no time applying offensive pressure in the second half as Mmunga fired the half's first shot past the MSOE goalkeeper to give Wartburg a 2-1 lead in the 47th minute
- MSOE was unable to get any clean looks at goal offensively as the Raiders had two shots blocked over the next 10 minutes of play
- Shots were traded in 57th minute as Landon Hartsell put an attempt on goal that was saved right before MSOE had a shot on goal on the other end that was saved by Eckert
- MSOE was able to tie the match at 2-2 in the 76th minute when Braedon Smith netted a goal after an assist from Austin Killen
- An Andrew Valenzuela shot was blocked, leading to a Wartburg corner kick that set up a Razter shot on goal in the 82nd minute that was saved
- Valenzuela put another attempt on goal in the 88th minute that was saved for Harris' sixth save of the match
- MSOE held off Wartburg's late push to keep the match at 2-2 for a draw
