Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 to UW-Platteville

WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's soccer was defeated at home by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 3-1 on Saturday, Sept. 21. The Knights are now 2-4-1 overall and UW-Platteville moves to 8-0-1 overall this season.

  • First Half
    • The Knights had an early scoring opportunity when Natalie Thiesfeld fired a shot that missed the target outside
    • Mackenzie Ceschan made the first save of the match in the 10th minute after a UW-Platteville shot on goal
    • The Knights had two more shots just miss being on target after shots from Greta Rothe and Paige Lienhard in the 10th and 15th minute
    • The Pioneers broke the tie in the 19th minute after a free kick was headed in
      • UW-Platteville led 1-0 at halftime
  • Second Half
    • The Pioneers added another goal in the 58th minute to make it 2-0
    • Wartburg got on the board in the 73rd minute when Nikayla Youngblut passed to Lauren Kirkle who beat her defender before burying a shot in the bottom right corner of the net
    • In the 74th minute, the Pioneers scored again after a deep goal kick got behind the Knights' defense for Jess Morawski's second goal of the match
    • Wartburg had a late corner kick that led to a shot on goal from Abigail Milburn, but it was saved by the Pioneers
    • UW-Platteville closed out a 3-1 win
