Nebraska Wesleyan Defeat Men's Basketball in A-R-C Play

LINCOLN, Neb. –  Men's basketball fell to Nebraska Wesleyan University 86-61 on the road in an American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup. The Knights are now 9-6 overall and move to 2-4 in A-R-C play.
 
Game Summary
  • First Half
    • After the Prairie Wolves jumped out to a 5-0 lead, Luke Ladwig got Wartburg on the board with a driving score
    • Marshun Williams connected on a three pointer and Gabe Trujillo went 2/2 from the free throw line, but NWU extended its lead to 16-7 with 13:40 left in the first half
    • Austin Bienemann scored six points and Ladwig scored four points over the next six minutes, but the Prairie Wolves extended their lead to 30-17 with just over six minutes left in the half
    • It was all NWU to end the half as they closed the first on a 18-9 run to take a 48-26 lead into halftime
      • Bienemann had five points for the Knights, while Ladwig and Trujillo each scored once each during the run
  • Second Half
    • Ladwig scored the first four points of the half for Wartburg, but the Knights trailed by 23 after three minutes of play into the second half
    • Wartburg cut the lead to 20 after three points from Trujillo and baskets from Williams and Bienemann
    • NWU answered with a 15-5 run that extended its lead to 72-42 with 8:09 remaining in the game
      • Williams, Ladwig and Trujillo all scored for the Knights during the run
    • Evan Gray scored seven of the Knights' next 12 points along with scores from Dominic Braet and Ethan Yungtum
    • Drew Britson, Jaden Maten and Vuk Stanic all scored in the final minutes for Wartburg as NWU closed a 86-61 win over the Knights
