Women's Soccer Drop A-R-C Match to No. 18 Loras 3-0

WAVERLY, Iowa – Women's soccer fell to No. 18 Loras College 3-0 at home on Saturday, Oct. 18. The Knights are now 6-8-1 overall and 2-2-1 in A-R-C play, while Loras moves to 13-0-1 overall and 6-0 in A-R-C play.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • Tulla Jensen made two early saves for the Knights in the first seven minutes of play
    • In the 10th minute, Nikayla Youngblut got behind the Loras defense and fired a deep shot that drifted just left and then hit the post and went out of play
    • Youngblut had another shot blocked minutes later and then on the other end of the field, Jensen made a save in the 21st minute to keep the match at 0-0
    • After an unsuccessful corner kick for Wartburg in the 24th minute, Loras scored the first goal of the match following a corner kick in the 25th minute
    • After two more saves from Jensen, Loras tacked on another score in the 33rd minute after a deflection led to a goal from Morgan Lyon to make the score 2-0
    • The Duhawks didn't stop there and added a third goal in the 37th minute to make it 3-0
    • Jensen made two more saves before halftime and in the 45th minute Claudia Sewell had a shot blocked to keep the score at 3-0 headed into halftime
  • Second Half
    • Sami Webster recorded Wartburg's first shot on goal of the match in the 48th minute with a free kick, but it was saved by the Duhawks
    • Another free kick opportunity allowed Paige Lienhard to put a deep shot on goal in the 60th minute, but Loras once again made the save to keep the score 3-0
    • Both Maya Anderson and Allison Smith fired shots on goal for the Knights, but neither could find the back of the net as Loras held off the Knights for a 3-0 win
