DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Wartburg College volleyball team (11-6, 2-1 A-R-C) had its four-game win streak snapped as the No. 23-ranked Dubuque University Spartans (17-2, 2-0 A-R-C) scored a straight sweep Friday night at the Stoltz Sports Center.
The Spartans won by set scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-14.
Sophie Sedgwick led with a team-high 13 assists to surpass 1,500 assists in her career.
Kaylee Koudelka recorded a team-high 10 kills to mark her seventh double-digit kill total on the season, also third-straight.
Anna Sash and
Whitney Klyn each tacked on six.
Wartburg held steady throughout the first set, trading points with Dubuque. The Knights recorded three straight points to reach within one at 11-10, but the Spartans rallied off a trio to force a timeout.
Dubuque's offensive attack was too much to overcome, as it would take the next two sets and hold off Wartburg. Dubuque marked just its third win in the last seven meetings between the two programs.
The Spartans held the Knights to just .092, while attacking at .235 themselves.
