WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer continued its high-powered offensive attack in American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) play on Wednesday, Oct. 8 with a 5-2 win over the University of Dubuque at home. Wartburg was led today by a hat trick performance from sophomore
Flori Gembo.
The Knights are now 2-0 in A-R-C play and move to 4-5-1 overall, while Dubuque moves to 0-7-4 overall and 0-1-2 in A-R-C play.

- First Half
- The Knights got the scoring started in the fifth minute, when Aidan Mott found Alima Mmunga on a cross that Mmunga finished to put Wartburg in front 1-0 early
- Lwings Kabula drew a foul deep in the Dubuque box to draw a penalty, but UD was able to make the save on the penalty attempt to keep the score at 1-0 in the 22nd minute
- In the 27th minute, it was Mott again who made a great pass to find a streaking Flori Gembo who finished the strike to make it 2-0
- UD was able to cut Wartburg's lead in half in the 34th minute when Mario Meier dished it to Eddie Papis who fired a shot that found the back of the net following a deflection
- Wartburg took a 2-1 lead into halftime
- Second Half
- Gembo had a shot on goal saved in the 47th minute and then Mott had a shot just miss the target and deflect off the left goal post in the 60th minute
- Gembo tallied his second goal of the match in the 68th minute with an assist from Lwings Kabula to push the Wartburg lead to 3-1
- 10 minutes later, Mmunga and Gembo carved through the UD defense to line up a third goal of the night from Gembo and make the score 4-1
- Tyler Howe made a long pass to Kabula in the 85th minute that ended in Wartburg's fifth score of the night
- Dubuque was able to add a late goal, but Wartburg held off the Spartans for a 5-2 win at home
