COLUMBUS, Ga.—The Wartburg softball team earned its first win of the season in the second game Sunday, thanks to a walkoff single from
Bella Mulder.
The Knights fell 9-1 in six innings to Gettysburg to open the day, but defeated Pacific Lutheran 13-12 in walkoff fashion in the finale.
Gettysburg highlights:
- Addy Wells drove in Mulder from third for the lone run of the game
Pacific Lutheran highlights:
- In the first, Wells hit a two-run double to left for the first runs of the game
- Wells later scored on Reagan Hassel's single to short
- Hassel had a two-run homer to center in the third
- The bats really broke out in the sixth as Fellows hit a leadoff home run
- Wells and Jenna Wiebenga had back-to-back round trippers
- Mulder drove in Riley Feeley on her sac fly
- Hassel and Carley Bredar scored the final two runs of the frame as they capitalized on an error
- The score was 12-11 in favor of the Lutes heading into the bottom of the seventh
- Wells scored on Feeley's bunt
- Hassel drew a walk to load the bases with no outs
- Mulder hit a single to center to score Wiebenga for the walkoff win
