NEW ORLEANS-- Wartburg Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, and Head Track and Field Coach, Marcus Newsom, was named the USTFCCCA Men's Head Coach of the Year for the Midwest region, the national organization announced today.

Newsom, in his 27^th year as Director of Cross Country and Track and Field at Wartburg, led the Knights to the team title at the 2025 American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships, winning four events. Wartburg earned eight All-America and 15 All-Region honors. 

This is his first career men's honor for indoor track as he was previously honored for outdoor in 2021 and has 16 regional honors on the women's side between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
