Knights Sweep St. Kate's

WAVERLY, Iowa—The Wartburg softball team (6-8 overall) swept St. Catherine's (7-7) 8-2 and 10-4 Tuesday.

Game one highlights
  • The Wildcats took the early 1-0 lead on an RBI single to centerfield
  • In the bottom of the frame, Jenna Wiebenga hit a two-run homer over the left centerfield fence to take the 2-1 lead
  • The Knights added to their lead in the third on a sac fly from Reagan Hassel
  • The Orange and Black plated four in the fourth which included an RBI single from Bella Mulder, a suicide squeeze attempt but the runner was safe, a bases loaded walk, and a sac fly from Hassel
  • St. Kate's added its final run in the fifth
  • Wiebenga hits her second two-run shot, again to left center, in the fifth

  • The Wildcats again take the early 1-0 lead in the first
  • A sac fly from Mulder and a wild pitch gives Wartburg the 2-1 lead
  • St. Kates uses two RBI singles to make it 2-2
  • The Knights tally five in the second on a two-run single from Hassel and a three-run double from Mulder
  • The Wildcats push two across in the fourth before Fellows scores in the fifth for the Orange and Black
  • Wartburg plates two more in the sixth on a two-run single from Hassel and Rylie Metz sacrifices in Sydney Fellows
