Knights sweep Norse

DECORAH, Iowa— The Wartburg softball team (18-10 overall, 7-1 American Rivers) swept Luther 6-3 and 5-3 in eight innings Saturday. This was the first sweep over the Norse since 2022.

Third inning  
Fourth inning
  • Riley Feeley hit a suicide squeeze to drive in Carley Bredar for the 2-0 lead
  • The Norse answered with two in the bottom of the frame on a bases loaded walk and an RBI fielder's choice to knot it at two all
 
Sixth inning
  • The Orange and Black plated four in the sixth thanks in part to a two-run single to centerfield from Addy Wells
  • Luther answered again with two runs on RBI singles to make it 6-4
 
Seventh inning
  • The Norse were retired in order to seal the win for the Knights

  • Wartburg took the early 2-0 lead as it scored two on an error

  • Jenna Wiebenga hit a leadoff double
  • Pinch runner Strzyzewski was sacrificed to third, but the batter Feeley was safe on the error
  • Wells singled up the middle which plated Strzyzewski for the 4-3 lead
  • Ally Happ drove in Feeley for the 5-3 lead
  • The next two batters were retired to give Luther one more at-bat
  • Their leadoff hitter grounded out, the next player hit a double, the next gal popped up and the final batter struck out swinging to seal the sweep
