Knights split with No. 22 Simpson

INDIANOLA, Iowa—The Wartburg softball team (19-11 overall, 8-2 American Rivers) split with No. 22 Simpson (28-4, 9-3) Saturday but remained on top of the conference standings. The Knights won the opener 8-2, but fell 11-3 in six innings in the finale.

First inning
  • The Storm took the early 1-0 lead on an RBI sac fly
Second inning
  • Sydney Fellows hit a three-run homer over the left centerfield fence to take the 3-1 lead
Sixth inning
  • This remained the score until Simpson tallied its final run on an RBI fielder's choice
Seventh inning
  • The Orange and Black plated five in their last at-bats, which included a two-run single from Bella Mulder
  • The Storm had runners on first and second with two outs. The next batter grounded out to seal the win for Wartburg
