NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Sophomore
Anna Sash delivered her sixth double-digit kill outing of the season as the Wartburg College volleyball team (7-3 overall) rolled past Minnesota Morris (4-6 overall) in straight sets to open play at the Carleton/St. Olaf Invitational.
The Knights claimed the sweep by scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 25-14.
Sash paced the attack with 10 kills, while
Whitney Klyn tallied eight kills and a team-high 15 digs to help Wartburg hit .292 on the night. The Knights held the Cougars to just .116 hitting, backed by eight service aces and eight total team blocks.
Wartburg came out sharp in the opening set, hitting .358 with 10 kills. Klyn, Sash,
Kaylee Anderson, and
Liv Anderson each added two kills, while the Knights posted three of their eight aces to take the set 25-15.
The Cougars challenged in set two, but Wartburg's defense came up big with five blocks. Sash(4) and
Leah Hayungs (3) each led in the kills category to edge out a 25-21 win.
The Knights then cruised in the third, building a 24-10 advantage before
Kaylee Koudelka's sixth kill sealed the 25-14 victory and the sweep.

Wartburg continues play Saturday with a doubleheader, facing No. 24-ranked Gustavus Adolphus at 10 a.m. before taking on host St. Olaf at noon.
