WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's soccer was defeated by Macalester College 1-0 in a defensive battle on Friday, Sept. 5 at Salzwedel field. Following today's contest Wartburg is now 1-1-1 and Macalester moves to 3-0.

- Wartburg applied some offensive pressure early in the match with a corner kick in the second minute and then a Landon Hartsell shot on goal in the sixth minute
- Macalester had back-to-back corner kicks in the 15th minute, but Wartburg's defense held strong and allowed no shots
- Flori Gembo fired a shot on goal for the Knights in the 20th minute that was saved by Macalester to keep the match scoreless

- Wartburg had 11 shots recorded in the final 20 minutes with just one finding the target, when Aidan Mott fired a shot on goal in the 89th minute
- Macalester recorded one more shot on goal in the second half that was saved by Henry Eckert
