Men's Soccer Fall to Augsburg 1-0 on the Road

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Men's soccer was unable to hand Augsburg University its first loss of the season today on the road as the Auggies defeated the Knights 1-0. Wartburg is now 1-2-1 overall and Augsburg moves to 5-0.
 
Match Summary
  • First Half
    • Flori Gembo had an early shot on goal attempt for the Knights with a shot that was saved in the third minute of play
    • Aidan Mott was able to create space and fire a low shot on goal that was saved by Augsburg in the 21st minute
    • Henry Eckert made back-to-back saves in the 26th minute to keep the match scoreless
    • Eckert made another save in the 41st minute to keep the match 0-0 headed into half
  • Second Half
    • Wartburg came out of the break aggressive on offense as both Mott and Landon Hartsell had shots on goal saved by the Auggies
    • Carson Kay, Lwings Kabula and Gembo each added another on-target shot for the Knights, but the score remained 0-0 through 63 minutes
    • Augsburg had two shots on goal to begin the half and then in the 67th minute, the Auggies broke the tie with a goal that bounced into the back of the net to make the score 1-0
    • Jacob Chickering fired a shot on goal in the final minute as a last hope for the Knights, but it was saved to close out a 1-0 victory for Augsburg
