WAVERLY, Iowa – Men's basketball was unable to complete a comeback over Buena Vista University on Wednesday, Jan. 14 as the Beavers held off the Knights 77-65 inside Levick Arena.
The Knights are now 10-5 overall and 2-4 in A-R-C play, while Buena Vista moves to 10-5 overall and 3-4 in A-R-C play.

- First Half
- Gabe Trujillo scored the first four points of the game for Wartburg, but BVU led 6-4 after four minutes of play
- Both Cael Schramm and Jamison Poe both scored in the paint for the Knights, but the Beavers continued to hold a 16-8 lead
- BVU led 25-13 with 7:11 left in the first half despite a made three pointer from Ethan Yungtum and a score from Luke Ladwig
- Brody Bauer completed a four-point play to cut the lead to 25-17
- The Knights were able to cut the deficit to five points with 3:03 left in the half following a Drake Wemark three pointer and scores from Yungtum and Schramm
- Luke Ladwig scored seven of Wartburg's next nine points to end the half trailing the Beavers 36-32

- Trujillo and Schramm each scored two points to open the second half, but BVU continued to lead 40-36
- The Beavers began to open their lead over the next four minutes of play following 10-straight points from Carter Sievers and a three pointer for a 13-5 run that made the score 53-41 with 13:44 left to play
- Sievers finished with a game-high 29 points after a 23-point second half
- Scores from Ladwig, Wemark and Yungtum helped Wartburg start to grind away at the BVU lead before a three pointer from Ladwig cut the lead to 59-50 with just under nine minutes remaining
- A Bauer three pointer and a score from Austin Bienemann brought the Knights within six points (62-56) with 5:47 left in the game
- BVU answered with two more three pointers to push the lead back up to 70-61 with only three minutes remaining
- Mason Matson made a tough three pointer in the final minutes, but BVU was able to hold off the Knights for a 77-65 win
