WAVERLY, Iowa- The Wartburg men's and women's track and field teams capped off an impressive weekend hosting the Chelsey Henkenius Open with six meet records, three school records, and one facility record.

FIELD EVENTS
(M) High Jump: Tonie Torboh Jr (1.85m 6-00.75) led the Knights with a top three event finish.
Daniel Zietlow and
Jayden Maten followed with top five finishes with a 1.80m 5-10.75 mark.
(W) High Jump:
Ema Roberts,
Samantha Nielsen, and
Grace Braden all jumped 1.60m 5-3.00, which was the top three highest finishes in the event. Each athlete's mark stands 20
th on the TFRRS list for this season.
(M) Long Jump:
Elliott Bond earned a top three finish with a 6.81m 22-04.25 mark.
(W) Long Jump:
Olivia Tollari was victorious with a 5.56m 18-3.00 mark, which is a meet record. Tollari's mark stands ninth on the TFRRS list for this season.
(M) Triple Jump:
Anthony Weaver Jr rewrote the record books with a 14.71m 48-03.25 first-place mark. Weaver's jump broke Mike Dana's triple jump mark that has stood for 19 years. Weaver's mark also breaks the meet record.
Tonie Torboh Jr made an impressive debut with a 14.69m 48-02.50 second-place mark, which puts him second on the program list. Weaver Jr's mark stands sixth and Tarboh Jr's mark stands seventh on the TFRRS list for this season.
(W) Triple Jump:
Maddy Boulanger and
Amelia Wright were the lone competitors for the Knights. Boulanger finished second with 10.13m and Wright finished third with 10.10m.
(M) Pole Vault:
Daniel Zietlow was the only member of the Knights competing in the pole vote, earning the event victory with a 4.10m 13-05.25 mark. Zietlow makes his first appearance on the pole vault top 10 list with the seventh best mark in program history.
(M) Shot Put:
Deacon Vasey (13.76m 45-01.75) and
Will Evans (13.34m 43-09.25) made their collegiate debuts with top three finishes.
(W) Shot Put:
Abby Veld (12.35m 40-06.25) and
Emma Kuhlmann (12.05m 39-06.50) led the Knights with top three finishes.
(M) Weight Throw:
Eli Keahna outlasted 30 competitors to earn the event victory with a 16.22m 53-02.75 mark.
(W) Weight Throw:
Abby Veld put together an impressive performance with a first-place 16.78m 55-00.75 mark, which is seventh on the program's top 10 list. Additionally, Veld's mark stands fifth on the TFRRS list for this season.

RUNNING EVENTS
(M) 5000m:
Ethan Boston (15:16.73) and
Caden Kueker (15:38.43) paced the Knights with top three finishes.
(W) 5000m:
Morgan Engel won the event with a time of 18:40.37.
Abbey Angus (18:45.40) and
Cali Trygstad (19:20.20) followed with second and third place finishes, respectively.
(M) 3000m:
Lance Sobaski (8:14.07),
Isaiah Hammerand (8:17.91),
Tyler Schermerhorn (8:20.44), and
Eli Larson (8:23.99) were the top finishers in the event.
Lance Sobaski's rises to second on the program's top 10 list and is seventh best on the TFRRS list for this season. Sobaski set a meet record with his performance. Hammerand's time stands ninth on the TFRRS list for this season. Schermerhorn improves to seventh on the program's top 10 list and 12
th on the TFRRS list for this season. Larson is now tied for ninth on the program's top 10 list and 14th on the TFRRS list for this season.
(W) 3000m:
Maddie Merna put together an impressive performance with an event win, and her time stands seventh best on the TFRRS list for this season.
Karle Kramer (10:37.26) and
Lily Peterson (10:38.07) rounded out the Knights top three finishes.
(M) Mile: The Knights posted the top six runners in the event.
Hutton Edney (4:18.77),
Ryan Heden (4:25.61), and
Clay Warson (4:28.91) were the top three finishers in the race.
(W) Mile:
Alyssa Blakenship (5:20.41) and
Meghan Zopel (5:26.02) put together a nice race with two top three finishes.
(M) 1000m:
Gage Heyne (2:31.41) and
Rylan Martin (2:34.16) were the top two finishers. The Knights posted the top four out of five best times in the event.
(W) 1000m:
Haley Meyer set a new school record, facility record, and meet record with a time of 2:55.24 to eclipse Haddie Vawter's time that had stood since 2014.
Nadia Bowden (3:00.51) and
Megan Pickar (3:18.74) each earned top three finishes. Â
(M) 800m:
Jonathan Meyer was the only Wartburg competitor in the event and finished fifth with a time of 2:25.49.
(W) 800m:
Leah McDonald was victorious in the event with a time of 2:35.42. In addition,
Lily Cooper was a third place finisher with a time of 2:41.68.
(M) 600m: Nathan Ahren (1:23.07) and
Logan Rosas (1:23.17) finished a close race as the top two finishers in the event.
(W) 600m:
Natalie Bork (1:37.60) and
Hannah Ramsey (1:37.96) were the top two finishers in the event. The Knights had eight of the top ten finishes.
(M) 400m:
Jeffrey Oestreicher earned a top three finish with a time of 50.98.
Alex Kerr was the next Knight to cross the finish line with a time of 51.98 to take fifth place.
(M) 200m:
Noah Schmidgall made his collegiate debut and finished fifth out of 25 total competitors with a time of 23.33.
(W) 200m:
Jaylin May began her Wartburg career with a fifth place finish out of 23 competitors with a time of 27.60.
(M) 60m Hurdles:
Austin Rindels earned a second place finish with a time of 8.44.
Weston Johnson finished fourth and slides into 10th on the program's top 10 list.
(W) 60m Hurdles:
JoJo Tyynismaa opened up the season with a second place finish with a time of 9.04, which is 17
th best on the TFRRS list for this season. Additionally,
Grace Braden earned a third place finish with a time of 9.06.
(M) 60m:
AJ Wright broke his own school record, clocking a blazing time of 6.83. His time stands seventh on the TFRRS list for this season.
Ben Frazier began his collegiate career in impressive fashion with a second place finish of 6.94. His time ranks fifth on the program's top 10 list.
(W) 60m:
Olivia Tollari (8.13) was the top finisher for the Knights with a fifth place finish.
Ellasa Horton (8.15),
Amanda Davis (8.18), and
Katelyn Zelle (8.22) each performed in the finals.

(M) 4x400m:
David Williams,
Aidan Gruver,
Jeffrey Oestreicher, and
Alex Kerr were apart of the top Knights relay team and finished third with a time of 3:28.87. The Knights had three relay teams placed inside the top five.
(W) 4x400m:
JoJo Tyynismaa,
Natalie Bork,
Leah Cherry, and
Ryann Decker represented the Knights and were victorious in the relay. They set a meet record with their time of 3:59.49.
