Knights Earn Nine Top Three Finishes at Cyclone Open

AMES, Iowa- The Wartburg men's and women's track and field teams have wrapped up their day competing in the Cyclone Open in Ames. The men's 4x400m relay team (David Williams, Alex Kerr, Jimmy Weispfenning, and Jeffrey Oestreicher) were victorious. Additionally, Ema Roberts tied for first place in the high jump.

FIELD EVENTS
(W) High Jump: Ema Roberts tied for first place with a 1.63m 5-4.25 mark, which stands 11th best on the TFRRS list for this season. Samantha Nielsen finished third with a 1.53m 5-0.25 mark.

(M) Long Jump: Tonie Torboh Jr (6.58m 21-7.25) continues to excel in his first year as a Knight with a sixth place finish.

(M) Shot Put: The Knights were led by Eli Keahna with a 13.52m 44-4.25 mark and Deacon Vassey with a 13.16m 43-2.25 mark. Keahna finished in 12th place and Vassey finished in 15th place.

(W) Shot Put: Abby Veld finished fourth and made her first appearance on the program's top 10 list with a 13.29m 43-7.25 mark. Veld's mark stands 12th best on the TFRRS list for this season. Olivia Rowedder (11.16m 36-7.50) finished inside the top 10 with her ninth place finish.

(M) Weight Throw: Eli Keahna put together a strong performance against 30 other competitors. Keahna finished in sixth place with a 16.00m 52-06.00 mark.

(W) Weight Throw: The Knights had three top 10 performances. Abby Veld (15.70m 51-06.25) finished fourth place, Addison Phillips (14.00m 45-11.25) finished sixth place, and Ana Glawe (13.47m 44-2.50) finished 10th place.  
 
RUNNING EVENTS
(M) Mile: Lance Sobaski (4:09.39) and Nathan Kinzer (4:12.63) were the top performers for the Knights. Sobaski and Kinzer each finished in the top 20 out of 63 total runners. Sobaski's time stands second on the TFRRS list for this season.

(W) Mile: Maddie Merna (5:02.07), Haley Meyer (5:02.43), and Nadia Bowden (5:07.01) each earned top 10 finishes. Merna finished in fifth place and her time stands 13th on the TFRRS list for this season. Meyer crossed the finish line right after Merna and her time stands 16th on the TFRRS list for this season.   

(M) 1000m: Hutton Edney (2:28.37) and Nathan Ahern (2:28.62) narrowly missed out on Carter Cruise's program record (2:28.10) that was set last season. Edney finished in second place and Ahren finished in third place out of 26 total competitors.

(W) 1000m: Bethany Warren (3:00.23) and Hannah Ramsey (3:01.87) each earned top 10 finishes.

(M) 800m: Logan Rosas (1:54.59) and Rylan Martin (1:56.16) led the way for the Knights. Rosas took 12th place and Martin took 20th place.

(M) 600y: Will Howes (1:15.86) and Caleb Campbell (1:16.14) led the Knights with their seventh and eighth place finishes, respectively.

(W) 600y: The Knights had four out of the top five finishes in the event. Natalie Bork (1:27.04) finished second, Isabella Skay (1:30.60) finished third, Paige Prazak (1:31.17) finished fourth, and Lillian Olson (1:31.79) finished fifth.

(M) 400m: Jimmy Weispfenning (50.14) finished 11th and David Williams (50.63) finished 13th to lead the Knights.

(W) 400m: JoJo Tyynismaa led the Knights with a sixth place time of 57.55, which is 13th best on the TFRRS list for this season. Olivia Tollari finished ninth with a time of 59.15.

(M) 200m: AJ Wright was a top three finisher with a time of 22.21, which ranks fifth on the program's top 10 list. Jeffrey Oestereciher ran a time of 22.72 to finish in 13th place.  

(W) 200m: Amelia Wright was the top Knights finisher in 15th place with a time of 27.06. Adalyn Sporleder was the next Knight to cross the finish-line with a time of 27.39 to finish in 21st place.

(M) 60m Hurdles: Austin Rindels reached the finals and took sixth place with a time of 8.44.

(W) 60m Hurdles: Caitlin Benesh made an appearance in the finals and finished seventh with a time of 9.45.

(M) 60m: Ben Frazier finished seventh and AJ Wright finished eighth in the finals. Frazier remains fifth on the program's top 10 list, but he improves his time (6.91) with his performance in the prelims.

(W) 60m: Aly Stahle (8.18), Ellasa Horton (8.22), and Adalyn Sporleder (8.23) each finished in the top 20 out of 47 total competitors.
 
RELAYS
(M) 4x400m: David Williams, Alex Kerr, Alex Kerr, Jimmy Weispfenning, and Jeffrey Oestreicher represented the Knights and ran a blazing time of 3:20.67. This time earned the event victory and stands 11th on the TFRRS list for this season.

(W) 4x400m: The Knights put together an exceptional performance and finished second with a time of 3:53.48. JoJo Tyynismaa, Natalie Bork, Haley Meyer, and Olivia Tollari represented the Knights and their time stands fourth on the TFRRS list for this season.
