Women's Soccer Fall to Loras in A-R-C Opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Knights fell to Loras College 5-0 on the road Wednesday, Oct. 7 in the first American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) matchup of the season for both teams.
 
Wartburg is now 5-4-2 overall (0-1, A-R-C) and Loras moves to 8-1 overall (1-0, A-R-C).
 
How It Happened
First Half
- The Duhawks applied the early pressure, putting three shots on frame in the opening 15 minutes; Tulla Jensen saved attempts at 1:36, 10:54 and 14:42 as the Knights kept the match scoreless.
- The middle of the half remained 0-0 through a stretch that included multiple fouls and a yellow card
- The Duhawks generated another late push with a corner kick at 34:16, two more saves by Jensen and another corner at 44:17 before Ciara Johnson scored from an Izzy Simonini assist at 44:37.
- The Duhawks took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
Second Half
- The Duhawks scored in the opening minute of the half, with Emily Bowe finishing from an Emerson Gasmann assist at 45:58 to make it 2-0.
- Bowe added another goal from Gasmann at 54:20, and Ciara Johnson scored from Bella Scesniak at 62:05 as the Duhawks moved ahead 4-0.
- The Knights put a shot on goal at 70:11 from Zaley Streeper, but Kelly Nelsen made the save.
- Gasmann scored from Lauren Frost at 76:47, and Jensen added late saves at 79:43 and 86:40 before the Duhawks finished with a 5-0 win.
