Men's and Women's DMR Set Program Records on Day One of NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama- The Wartburg men's and women's track & field teams have concluded the first day of the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The men's team is tied for 10th place with 6 points and the women's team is tied for 12th place with 12 points.
 
Nathan Kinzer (DMR First-team), Jordan Cleaves (DMR First-team), Nathan Ahern (DMR First-team), Lance Sobaski (DMR First-team), Isaiah Hammerand (5000m Second-team), Eli Larson (5000m Second-team), Solomon Zaugg (Mile Second-team), Jimmy Weispfenning (200m Second-team), and AJ Wright (60m Second-team) earned All-America honors on the men's side.
 
Haley Meyer (DMR First-team), Hannah Ramsey (DMR First-team), Nadia Bowden (DMR First-team), Maddie Merna (DMR First-team), JoJo Tyynismaa (200m Second-team). Grace Braden (Pentathlon First-team, 60m Hurdles Second-team), and Abby Veld (Weight Throw Second-team) earned All-America honors on the women's side.
 
Grace Braden placed seventh in the pentathlon with 3570 points. Braden earns First-team All-America honors, which is her first career in the event.

FIELD EVENTS
(W) Pentathlon (High Jump): Grace Braden placed eighth with a 1.61m 5-03.25 mark.

(W) Pentathlon (Long Jump): Grace Braden finished in 14th place with a 5.09m 16-08.50 mark.

(W) Pentathlon (Shot Put): Grace Braden put together a top three performance with a 11.44m 37-06.50 mark.

(W) Weight Throw: Abby Veld placed 11th with a 16.82m 55-02.25 mark. Veld earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in her career.
 
RUNNING EVENTS
(W) Pentathlon (800m): Grace Braden finished in 19th place with a time of 2:32.60.

(W) Pentathlon (60m Hurdles): Grace Braden earned a top three finish with a time of 8.79.

(M) 5000m (Finals): The Knights were represented by two competitors. Isaiah Hammerand earned a top 10 finish with a time of 14:22.66. Hammerand earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in his career. Eli Larson finished in 14th place with a time of 14:25.50. Larson earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in his career.

(M) Mile (Prelims): Solomon Zaugg finished 15th with a time of 4:16.06. Zaugg earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in his career.

(M) 800m (Prelims): Hutton Edney finished in first place with a time of 1:51.88. Edney will advance to Saturday's finals.

(M) 200m (Prelims): Jimmy Weispfenning placed 13th with a time of 21.62. Weispfenning earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in his career.

(W) 200m (Prelims): JoJo Tyynismaa earned a top 10 finish with a time of 24.68. Tyynismaa earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the fifth total in her career. Tyynismaa remains second on the program's top 10 list, but improves her time.

(W) 60m Hurdles (Prelims): The Knights had two competitors in the event. JoJo Tyynismaa finished in the top five with a time of 8.57. Tyynismaa improves to second on the program's top 10 list and advances to Saturday's finals. Grace Braden finished in 12th place with a time of 8.75. Braden earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the third total in her career.  

(M) 60m (Prelims): AJ Wright took 12th place with a time of 6.80. Wright earns Second-team All-America honors, which is the first in his career.

(W) 60m (Prelims): JoJo Tyynismaa placed sixth with a time of 7.64. Tyynismaa will advance to Saturday's finals.
 
RELAYS
(M) DMR (Finals): Nathan Kinzer, Jordan Cleaves, Nathan Ahern, and Lance Sobaski represented the Knights and broke a program record. They finished in third place with a time of 9:45.77. They earn First-team All-America honors. This is Sobaski's fourth career honor and third in the event. This is the first career honor for Kinzer, Cleaves, and Ahern.

(W) DMR (Finals): Haley Meyer, Hannah Ramsey, Nadia Bowden, and Maddie Merna represented the Knights and broke a program record. They finished in third place with a time of 11:37.26. They earn First-team All-America honors. This is Haley Meyer's third career honor in the event. This is the first career honor for Ramey, Bowden, and Merna.

(M) 4x400m (Prelims): Jeffrey Oestreicher, Alex Kerr, Hutton Edney, and Jimmy Weispfenning represented the Knights. They finished in sixth place with a time of 3:15.94, which ranks third on the program's top 10 list. They will advance to Saturday's finals.

(W) 4x400m (Prelims): Olivia Tollari, Natalie Bork, Leah Cherry, and JoJo Tyynismaa represented the Knights. They finished in sixth place with a time of 3:48.54, which ranks fifth on the program's top 10 list.
