CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Wartburg College senior
JoJo Tyynismaa has been named the American Rivers Conference Female Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Tyynimsaa, a Tama, Iowa native, was named the the most valuable track performer for the third consecutive season at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Tyynismaa was a key performer for the Knights in pursuit of the program's 18
th Indoor American Rivers Conference Championship (dating back to 1998). Tynnismaa won three individual conference championships and was apart of the 4x400m relay team that was conference champions. Tyynismaa has earned seven career individual indoor conference honors in her career.
In the 200m dash, Tyynismaa was the conference champion with a time of 25.10. Tyyismaa earned her first career individual conference honor in this event. Tyynismaa remains third on the program's top 10 list, but improved her time.
In the 60m hurdles, Tyynismaa was the conference champion with a time of 8.69. Tyynismaa earned her fourth career conference championship in the event. Tyynismaa set a facility and meet record in her performance in the finals. Tyynsimaa remains third on the program's top 10 list, but improved her time. Tyynismaa stands ninth on the TFRRS list for this season.
In the 60m dash, Tyynismaa was the conference champion with a time of 7.69. This was Tyynismaa's first conference championship in the 60m. Tyynismaa set a facility record in the prelims with a time of 7.67. Tyynismaa improves to third on the program's top 10 list.
In the 4x400m relay, Tyynismaa helped guide the Knights to their first conference championship in the event since 2018. The Knights finished with a time of 3:52.43, which is a facility record.
Tyynismaa has earned her fifth career A-R-C athlete of the week honor.
