CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Wartburg College sophomore Abby Veld has been named the American Rivers Conference Women's Field Performer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Veld, a Steamboat Rock native, had a successful weekend competing at the Augustana Meet of Champions.

Veld outlasted 67 competitors in the shot put to earn the event victory with a 13.54m 44-05.25 mark, which stands 14th on the TFFRS list for this season. Veld earned a spot on the program's top 10 list, as she's ranked ninth in program history.

Veld earned a third place finish in both the discus (46.05m 151-01) and hammer throw (50.80m 166-08). Veld improved her position to third in the hammer throw and fourth in the discus on the program's top 10 list. Additionally, Veld stands eighth on the TFFRS list in the discus for this season.

This is Veld's second-career A-R-C weekly honor. Veld was named the American Rivers Conference Women's Field Performer of the Week on Feb. 23 during the indoor season.

The Knights will host the Wartburg Triangular tomorrow in Waverly.
