NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana- Wartburg College senior,
Lance Sobaski was named USTFCCCA Men's National Athlete of the Week, the national organization announced this afternoon.
Sobaski (Brighton, Iowa/Washington) put together a historic performance in the 3000m steeplechase on Mar 26 (Thu) at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis. Sobaski competed in a loaded field and earned a second place finish out of 48 total competitors. Sobaski ran the third-fastest time in NCAA Division III history of 8:40.85. Sobaski remains second on the program's top 10 list, but improved his personal best. Sobaski tops the TFRRS list for this outdoor season, claiming the top spot by just over 17 seconds.
Sobaski is the third honoree in program history that has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season.
Sobaski is a 5x All-American in Indoor Track & Field, 3x All-American in Outdoor Track & Field, and 2x All-American in Cross Country.
