Wartburg Wins Eight Events on Second Day of Final Qualifier

WAVERLY, Iowa- The Knights No. 5 ranked men's and No. 20 ranked women's track and field teams concluded the NCAA Final Qualifier. The Knights broke two program records (AJ Wright, JoJo Tyynismaa) and tied one program record (Jimmy Weispfenning).  
 
Jimmy Weispfenning (200m) and AJ Wright (60m) earned event wins on the men's side.
 
JoJo Tyynismaa (200m, 60m), Maddie Merna (3000m), Ema Roberts (high jump), Olivia Tollari (long jump), and the 4x400m relay (Olivia Tollari, Haley Meyer, Natalie Bork, and JoJo Tyynismaa) earned event wins on the women's side.

FIELD EVENTS
(W) High Jump: Ema Roberts earned the event victory with a 1.64m 5-04.50 mark.
 
(M) Long Jump: Tonie Torboh Jr placed in the top three with a 6.40m 21-00.00 mark.
 
(W) Long Jump: Olivia Tollari was victorious with a 5.56m 18-03.00 mark. Adalyn Sporleder earned a top three finish with a 5.37m 17-07.50 mark.
 
(M) Triple Jump: Tonie Torboh Jr was the lone competitor for the Knights in the event and took second place with a 13.76m 45-01.75 mark.
 
(W) Triple Jump: Amelia Wright was the only competitor for the Knights and placed fifth with a 10.07m 33-00.50 mark.
 
(M) Shot Put: Deacon Vasey was the top finisher for the Knights and placed ninth with a 14.16m 46-05.50 mark.
 
(W) Shot Put: Abby Veld earned a top five finish with a 12.96m 42-06.25 mark.
 
(M) Weight Throw: Eli Keahna was the top finisher for the Knights. Keahna finished in ninth place with a 16.54m 54-03.25 mark.
 
(W) Weight Throw: Abby Veld put together a top three performance with a 16.82m 55-02.25 mark.
 
RUNNING EVENTS
(M) 5000m: Ayden Buchanan finished in fourth place to lead the Knights with a time of 14:44.43.
 
(W) 5000m: Morgan Engel was the top performer for the Knights. Engel placed fourth with a time of 18:01.62.
 
(M) 3000m: The Knights had two top five finishers. Seth Bailey finished in fourth place with a time of 8:31.88 and Garrison Hubka finished in fifth place with a time of 8:35.25.
 
(W) 3000m: Maddie Merna won the event with a time of 9:50.16, which ties for fifth on the program's top 10 list. Lydia Maas finished fourth in the event with a time of 10:07.83.
 
(M) Mile: Solomon Zaugg finished in the top five with a time of 4:11.78.
 
(W) Mile: Anna Quillin led the Knights with a time of 5:06.17 to finish in 14th place.
 
(M) 800m: Logan Rosas ran the fastest time for the Knights and finished in fourth place with a time of 1:53.63.
 
(W) 800m: Alyssa Blankenship was the top performer for the Knights. Blankenship placed 18th with a time of 2:18.96.
 
(M) 400m: The Knights had two top 5 competitors. David Williams placed fourth with a time of 50.07 and Benjamin Roussell placed fifth with a time of 50.46.
 
(W) 400m: Natalie Bork put together the top performance for the Knights with a time of 59.07 to finish in seventh place.
 
(M) 200m: Jimmy Weispfenning earned the event victory and set the meet record with a time of 21.62. Weispfenning ties Dallas Wright's time in 2022 for the program record.  AJ Wright finished in fourth place with a time of 21.91. Wright remains fourth on the program's top 10 list, but improves his time.
 
(W) 200m: JoJo Tyynismaa was victorious with a time of 24.86. Tyynismaa improves to second on the program's top 10 list. Anna Curtis earned a top five finish with a time of 26.32.
 
(M) 60m Hurdles: The Knights had two competitors advance to the finals. Austin Rindels finished in fourth place with a time of 8.25 and Weston Johnson finished in sixth place with a time of 8.36.
 
(M) 60m: AJ Wright was the lone competitor for the Knights in the finals. Wright once again broke his own program record with a time of 6.74. Wright previously broke his record on February 27th at the American Rivers Conference Championships in Decorah. Wright stands eighth on the TFRRS list for this season. Wright set the facility and meet record with his performance.
 
(W) 60m: The Knights had three competitors advance to the finals. JoJo Tyynismaa made program history with a time of 7.55, which breaks Faith Burt's (7.63) record from 2009. Tyynismaa stands fifth on the TFRRS list for this season. Tyyismaa set a facility and meet record with her performance. Ellasa Horton earned a top five finish with a 7.90 and Anna Curtis finished eighth with a time of 8.09.
 
RELAYS
(M) 4x400m: Hutton Edney, Alex Kerr, Jordan Cleaves, and Jeffrey Oestreicher represented the top Wartburg relay team and placed second with a time of 3:16.17. They rank fourth on the program's top 10 list
 
(W) 4x400m: Olivia Tollari, Haley Meyer, Natalie Bork, and JoJo Tyynismaa represented the top Wartburg relay and finished in first place with a time of 3:48.58. They rank fifth on the program's top 10 list. They set both a facility and meet record with their performance.
