Second-Half Goals Lead to 1-1 Draw at St. Olaf

NORTHFIELD, Minn. — The Knights tied St. Olaf 1-1 on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Rolf Mellby Field to open the 2026 season.
 
Following a 0-0 first half, Zaley Streeper put Wartburg on the scoreboard with a second-half strike in the 65th minute assisted by Claire Lienhard, but the Oles were able to answer late and force a 1-1 draw. 
 
How It Happened
First Half
  • St. Olaf opened with a Wren VanDeWalker shot saved by Tulla Jensen at 1:57 and earned a corner kick shortly after.
  • The Knights got their first attempt from Paige Lienhard before a seven-minute stretch featured four Knights fouls and no change to the score.
  • The Knights answered with Ella Turner putting two shots on goal around a corner kick, with Charlotte Percy saving both attempts.
  • St. Olaf closed the half with five shots over the final 24 minutes, while Jensen saved attempts by Wren VanDeWalker and, at 40:06, Lillian Rediger; the Knights and St. Olaf were tied 0-0 at halftime.
 
Second Half
  • The Knights absorbed early St. Olaf pressure, with Jensen making a save and the defense handling multiple shots and corner kicks before the match remained scoreless.
  • Streeper put the Knights in front at 64:54, scoring the opening goal to make it 1-0.
    • Streeper was able to beat the keeper deep in St. Olaf territory after an assist from Lienhard
  • The Knights followed with two shots and a corner kick over the next stretch, including a saved attempt from Athena Sheets.
  • St. Olaf tied it at 82:26 on a goal by Anna Gilmer, and the match finished tied 1-1.
