Men's Soccer Fall to Cardinals 3-1 on the Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Knights lost to the Cardinals of North Central College (IL) 3-1 on Friday, Sept. 11. The Knights attempted 10 of their 14 shots after halftime, including six shots and two corners from 69:18 to 78:37, but the pressure was not enough to overcome North Central (IL).
How It Happened
First Half
- Alima Mmunga generated the Knights' first shot at 5:56, sending an attempt high before North Central (IL) earned the half's first corner at 16:12.
- North Central (IL) recorded four shots and a corner from 23:07 to 29:19, with Joseph Svoboda saving Marco Costabile's first attempt; Diego Sanchez's shot on goal at 24:27 was saved by Vincent Stanislao.
- Drew DeSchmidt sent a shot wide at 33:51 before North Central (IL) scored at 34:54, with Joseph Sargent finishing off an assist from Eltayeb Mahmoud for a 1-0 lead.
- Jacob Chickering had a shot wide at 39:18, and North Central (IL) added a late shot and corner before taking the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Second Half
- With the Knights trailing 1-0, Blake Whitlow, Aaron Vazquez and Mmunga recorded shots between 54:11 and 60:07.
- The Knights kept pressure on from 69:18 to 78:37, attempting six shots and two corner kicks, but did not score during the stretch.
