WAVERLY, Iowa — Wartburg College (5-1, 1-1 American Rivers) fell to Coe College (3-2, 2-0 American Rivers) 7-0 on Tuesday at Meirink Family Tennis Facility. The Knights picked up a win at No. 2 doubles, but Coe took the other two doubles positions to earn the doubles point. The Knights dropped all six singles matches.
Coe earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Aisha Gurung and Addison Leasure defeated
Brooke Bloom and
Morgan Kathman 6-3 at No. 1, while Lucille Rozeboom and Sophia Fain defeated
Lily Schreckengast and
Abi Peyman 6-3 at No. 3. The Knights picked up their doubles win at No. 2, where
Kaitlyn Olson and
Kendall Olson defeated Alli Hagness and Alice Tysoe 6-3.
Coe carried the 1-0 lead into singles and won all six courts. Sophia Fain defeated Kathman 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 1 singles, Addison Leasure defeated Bloom 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 and Aisha Gurung defeated Schreckengast 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3.
At the remaining singles positions, Alice Tysoe defeated
Kendall Olson 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4, Alli Hagness defeated
Abi Peyman 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 and Lucille Rozeboom defeated
Kaitlyn Olson 6-2, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 6. The results gave Coe a 7-0 match victory over the Knights.
