PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The Knights fell to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in nonconference play.
The Knights finished with eight shots, three on goal, while recording seven saves against 18 total Wis.-Platteville shots.
Wartburg is now 1-3-1 overall and UW-Plattevile moves to 2-2-2.
How It Happened
First Half
- Wis.-Platteville generated the early pressure with three corner kicks and a saved shot before Elisabeth Holmes scored at 17:53 off an assist from Sarah Liljestrand for a 1-0 lead.
- Wis.-Platteville hit the top woodwork at 29:05, and the Knights put a shot on goal at 34:00 when
Zaley Streeper's attempt was saved.
- The Knights held the margin there through a late Wis.-Platteville stretch, with
Tulla Jensen saving a shot at 44:01 as Wis.-Platteville led 1-0 at halftime.
Second Half
- The Knights generated the first looks after halftime, with
Athena Sheets and
Ella Turner shooting in the 47th minute. Wis.-Platteville followed with pressure from 52:02-55:19, but Jensen saved shots by Mira Petri twice and Angelina Labrague to keep the score at 1-0.

Kenna Hemann put shots on goal for the Knights at 56:04 and 61:20, while Jensen later stopped attempts from Margaret Slove at 64:52 and Elisabeth Holmes at 73:44 during another Wis.-Platteville push.
- The Knights looked for the equalizer with shots by
Quinlin Cole and Turner in the 76th minute, but Wis.-Platteville scored at 84:12 through Morgan Hospodarsky from Sarah Liljestrand's assist.
Claire Lienhard had a late shot at 89:08, and Wis.-Platteville finished with a 2-0 win.
