WAVERLY, Iowa -- The Wartburg College women's soccer team (3-3-1 overall) secured a 1-0 victory over Luther College Sunday afternoon, earning its second consecutive shutout behind a second-half goal from Lindsey Overmann.

After a scoreless opening half, the Knights broke through in the 58th minute when Ella Turner found Overmann, who finished the scoring chance for her first goal of the season and the eventual game-winner.

Wartburg generated seven of its 10 shots after halftime while limiting Luther to just one second-half attempt. Goalkeeper Tulla Jensen recorded three saves en route to her second consecutive shutout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Jensen made the first save of the afternoon at 6:07, turning aside a shot from Luther's Samantha McCorkle. Both teams traded corner kicks during the opening 10 minutes as the match remained scoreless.

Luther created another offensive opportunity in the 25th minute when the Norse's shot missed wide right, before Lupita Lopez recorded Wartburg's first shot of the afternoon at 27:23.

Jensen came up with another save in the 34th minute on an attempt as Luther continued to pressure the Knights. Wartburg closed the half with shots from Tessa Poppen and Finley Rivera, but neither team found the back of the net.

Second Half
The Knights came out with increased offensive pressure following halftime, generating several opportunities before breaking through in the 58th minute.

Lopez and Ella Turner each put shots on frame during the sequence before Turner assisted Overmann at 57:59. Overmann converted the opportunity to give Wartburg a 1-0 advantage.

Luther's best chance to equalize came in the 73rd minute, but Jensen denied Luther's Sofia Biedermann to preserve the Knights' lead.

Wartburg continued to pressure offensively down the stretch, adding a corner kick and shots from Maddie Bowers and Kenna Hemann. The Knights' defense held strong through the final whistle as Wartburg secured its second straight shutout.
