Mmunga and Kelgbeh Each Score in a 2-2 Battle With No. 9 Augsburg

WAVERLY, Iowa — The Knights (1-0-1) battled No. 8 Augsburg University (0-0-1) to a 2-2 draw on Friday, Sept. 4 at Salzwedel Field. Isaac Kelgbeh scored off a Lwings Kabula's assist in the 81st minute to bring the Knights even after they had trailed 2-1.
 
How It Happened
First Half
  • The Orange and Black took the first shot and two early corner kicks by 7:29, while the match remained scoreless.
  • The Knights pushed forward from 19:39 to 30:11 with four shots and two corner kicks, including two Mmunga attempts saved by Finnur Mercier.
  • Mmunga broke through at 38:24, scoring to put the Knights ahead 1-0.
  • Augsburg had a late shot go wide in the 44th minute, and the Knights carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
 
Second Half
  • The Knights generated three shots in the opening stretch, including two by Flori Gembo and a Jacob Chickering attempt, with Finnur Mercier saving Gembo's shot at 49:44.
  • Augsburg tied the match 1-1 at 59:45 when Liam Paradiso scored off a Gio Casias assist, then went ahead 2-1 at 79:01 on a goal by Christopher Plaza Alvarado.
  • The Knights answered at 80:59, as Kelgbeh scored from a Kabula assist to make it 2-2.
  • The Knights added late pressure with a Kabula shot at 81:31 and a Mmunga shot saved at 84:06, and the match finished tied 2-2.
