Knights Fall to Illinois Wesleyan in Road Matchup

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Knights (0-2-1) fell to Illinois Wesleyan Universirty (1-0-2) 4-0 on Monday, Sept. 7 at Neis Field.

Claire Lienhard and Allison Smith each recorded shots on goal in the second half for the Knights, but were kept off the scoreboard by a tough Titan defense. 

How It Happened
First Half
- Ill. Wesleyan moved in front at 4:30 when Sophie Lampert scored off a Taylor Haun assist.
- Tulla Jensen made saves on Lampert shots at 10:02 and 13:08, and the Knights got through a stretch that also included an Ill. Wesleyan corner kick and Haun hitting the right woodwork.
- Peyton McMahon scored at 26:50 to make it 2-0, and the Knights kept Ill. Wesleyan from adding on despite five shots and two corner kicks over the final 14 minutes of the half.
Second Half
- Smith put the Knights' first shot of the half on frame at 49:56, but Adriana Ruffolo made the save.
- Ill. Wesleyan scored twice in the 55th minute, with Liza Wiley finishing an Ava Mapes assist at 54:00 to make it 3-0 and Mapes scoring from Ellen Dahlquist at 54:45 for a 4-0 lead.
- The Knights pushed for a response with a Lienhard shot saved at 64:20, another Lienhard attempt at 69:12 and corner kicks at 64:28, 72:01 and 82:19.
- Jensen saved Annie Lloyd's shot at 75:21, and Ill. Wesleyan finished with a 4-0 win.
