Wartburg Shuts Out Concordia-Moorhead for First Season Win

WAVERLY, Iowa—Wartburg (1-1 overall) recorded its first victory of the season in the 2-0 win over non-conference opponent Concordia-Moorhead (1-1) Sunday.

Junior Austin Otto (Coralville) recorded his first goal of the season as he connected on a pass from freshman Dan Nadeau (White Bear Lake, Minn.) in to the lower left hand corner of the net at 28:20.

The score would remain 1-0 in favor of the Knights until senior Nate Gottsacker (Bloomington, Ill.) made it 2-0 on his goal at 74:23. Sophomore Matt Kristensen (Ankeny) was credited with the assist.

Sophomore Cade Shatzer (Hudson) made a career-high six saves to earn the shutout victory in the net.

The Orange and Black held the team advantage in shots at 24-14.

Wartburg returns to action Friday on the road against Macalester at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul, Minn. before they return home Sunday to host Lawrence at 4:30 p.m.
