WAVERLY, Iowa-- The Wartburg baseball team split its doubleheader with Iowa Conference opponent, Loras, Saturday.
The Knights won the first game of the twinbill 8-4 but dropped the finale 5-1. With the win on Friday, the Orange and Black claimed the weekend series.
In the first game, the Duhawks took the 3-0 lead in the first and plated one in the second to take the 4-0 lead.
Wartburg used a five run third inning to tak the 5-4 lead. The Knights added three in the fifth thanks in part to a two-run double by junior Levi Montague (Norway).
The same story rang true in the final game as Loras jumped to a 3-0 lead after two innings and moved ahead to 5-0 in the fifth.
The Orange and Black scored their lone run of the game in the seventh on a Duhawk fielding error.
Wartburg returns to the field Tuesday when it travels to face Luther in the nine-inning game at 1 p.m.
