DECORAH, Iowa—The Wartburg baseball team (17-16 overall, 9-8 IIAC) dropped the doubleheader of the Iowa Conference series to Luther (18-15, 9-8) 5-3 and 4-3 Tuesday.
In the first game, the Knights took the early 1-0 lead in the first before the Norse answered with a run in the second to tie the game.
Luther used a four-run third inning to take the 5-1 lead.
The Orange and Black tallied two in the fifth thanks to consecutive RBI singles by sophomores Joe Grote (Kenyon, Minn.) and Nick Massina (Waterloo) but were unable to further score.
Junior Ryan Doty (Dubuque) pitched all six innings and struck out five in the outing

Sophomore Ryan Powers (Wheatland) went 2-3 and freshman Blake Wilson (Bettendorf) went 2-4 in the game.
A similar story rang true in the final game as Wartburg plated three in the second to take the early lead thanks in part to a two-run single by junior Andrew Krebhiel (Donnellson).
The Norse scored two in the bottom of the frame and plated one run in the fourth and fifth innings to take the 4-3 lead.
sophomore Tony Stenberg (Atkins) finished 2-3 and Doty went 2-4 in the game.
The Knights return to the field Friday for the nine-inning game of the weekend conference series on the road against Simpson at 6 p.m.
