Game 2 Box Score
MINNEAPOLIS-- The Wartburg baseball team moved to 8-2 on the year as it split Wednesday's doubleheader with St. Olaf in the Metrodome. The Oles took the first game 5-4 in 10 innings and the Knights won the later nightcap, 6-4.

Both teams plated a run in the first inning until the Oles took the 3-1 lead midway through the fifth.

Wartburg tallied two runs in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at three all.

Neither squads scored in the sixth or seventh to send the game into extra innings.

In the top of the then, St. Olaf scored two runs to regain the 5-3 lead.

The Knights had one more turn at the plate. After the first two batters were retired on groundouts, Andrew Krehbiel hit a single and then scored on Ryan Doty's double. This would be the final run of the game as the next batter struckout.

Krehbiel and Doty each finished 2-5 at the plate. Scott Benson pitched seven complete innings and struck out five.

In the second game, the Oles took the early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Orange and Black stormed back with five runs in the third.

Ryan Powers, Blake Wilson and Doty all had RBI singles and Wilson and Doty each scored on a St. Olaf fielding error to take the 5-3 lead.

Doty slugged a leadoff triple in the top of the sixth and scored on Levi Montague's sacrifice fly to increase Wartburg's lead to 6-3.

St. Olaf scored one run in its final at-bat and threatened to score more as the bases were loaded with two outs, but Doty struck out his eighth batter of the night to seal the win.

Doty picked up his second win on the mound this season and also was the team's leading hitter as he went 3-4 with two runs scored.

The Knights make a return trip to the Metrodome Sunday when they face Saint Mary's (Minn). for a doubleheader at 9:15 p.m.
