CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa-- Wartburg (14-4 overall) split its doubleheader with Coe (8-6) Tuesday.
These were non-conference games.
The Kohawks took the first game 1-0 but the Knights won the nightcap 4-2.
In the first game, Coe scored the only run in the fifth inning.
Senior Michael Schinstock (Urbandale) allowed just four hits in his six innings of work.
Classmate Drew Yoder (Wellman) led the team at the plate as he went 2-3.
In the second game, Wartburg jumped on the board in the third inning as junior Ryan Powers (Wheatland) drove in freshman Ryan Kemp (Keokuk).
The Kohawks answered in the bottom of the frame before the Knights regained the lead as they plated two runs in the fifth.
Kemp hit an RBI double and Powers slugged an RBI triple in the inning.
Coe scored its final run in the sixth and the Orange and Black tallied their final run in the seventh on an RBI single from senior Andrew Krehbiel (Donnellson).
The Kohawks were sent down in order in their final at-bats to seal the win for Wartburg.
Kemp and Powers each went 2-3.
The Knights return to the field Friday for a weekend series at Buena Vista.
