#20 Knights Draw Split With Norse

WAVERLY, Iowa-- No. 20 Wartburg (26-6 overall, 15-3 IIAC) drew a split in Tuesday's Iowa Conference doubleheader against Luther (11-15, 7-11).

The Knights claimed the first game 4-1, but fell 6-3 in the night cap.

This also brought a halt to the Orange and Black's winning streak at 12. This string now stands as the second-longest winning streak in program history as the overall record is 17 set in the 1998 season.

In the first game, Wartburg took the 2-0 lead in its first at-bats.

The Norse sliced the lead in half in the second but that would be their lone run of the game.

The Knights tallied a run in the fifth and sixth innings to take the win.

Drew Yoder, Clay Emrich and Blake Wilson all went 2-3 in the first game.

Michael Schinstock pitched a complete game and struck out eight in the outing.

In the second game, Luther took the early 1-0 lead in the second but the Orange and Black answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

The Norse plated one in the third and two in the fourth to extend their margin to 4-3.

This remained the score until Luther tallied one in the eighth and ninth innings.

Wartburg was unable to score in its final at-bat to split the twinbill.

Yoder and Ryan Powers each went 2-5.

The Knights return to the field Friday when they host Dubuque in a weekend series which starts at 3:30 p.m.
