STORM LAKE, Iowa-- The Wartburg baseball team (17-5 overall, 6-2 IIAC) won both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Buena Vista (10-10, 2-6).
The Knights won the first game 3-2 and claimed the final game 16-12.
In the first game, the Beavers took the 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and the Orange and Black knotted the score in the top of the fourth as senior Drew Yoder hit a two-run homer.
Wartburg plated the game-winning run in the fifth on an RBI single from junior Ryan Powers.
In the final game, BV jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first but the Knights answered with two in the second.
The Beavers scored two in the bottom of the inning to regain the 3-2 lead.
The Orange and Block knotted the score at three in the fourth, but BV once again answered with two in its next at-bats.
In the fifth, Wartburg scored five runs on three hits to take the 9-5 lead.
After the Knights tallied one in the sixth, the Beavers had a five-run inning of their own to tie the score at 10-10.
The Knights scored three in the seventh and eighth innings, while BV plated two in the seventh to make the score 16-12 in the Knights' favor.
Senior Andrew Krehbiel finished 3-6 in the game and sophomore Blake Wilson went 3-5.
Freshman Parker Bolt was credited with the win on the mound.
The Orange and Black return to the field Tuesday when they host Luther in a doubleheader that starts at 3:30 p.m.
