WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 21 Wartburg baseball team will travel to Rock Island, Ill. to play in the NCAA Regional hosted by Augustana later this week. The winner of the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, May 24-28 in Appleton, Wis.

Wartburg is the No. 2 seed in the regional.

The Knights received the Iowa Conference's automatic bid as they won the conference tournament title Saturday with a 7-6 comeback win over Coe. Read the recap here.

The Orange and Black return to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2009 and make their tenth appearance in program history. Wartburg has played in Augustana's regional in its past two appearances.

The other five teams appearing at the regional are: Webster, Augustana, Concordia Chicago, Adrian and Ripon.

All six teams won their respective conference tournaments: Adrian the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Augustana  the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Concordia Chicago the Northern Athletics Conference, Ripon the Midwest Conference and Webster won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament.

Wartburg has faced one opponent this season, Concordia Chicago, on its spring trip on March 8. The Knights won 11-6. Webster is the only team Wartburg has previously faced in the post season as the two teams met in the 2008 regional where the Knights won 2-0.

Daily tickets will cost $7 for adults and $4 for seniors (60 and over), students and children (6-18). No admission charge for children age 5 and under. Tickets will be valid for all games on that day.
