Men's Soccer to Host First and Second-Rounds of NCAA Tournament

WAVERLY, Iowa-- The No. 16 Wartburg men's soccer team (12-3-5 overall) got an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and will host the Milwaukee School of Engineering (Wis.) (17-4-0) Saturday at 1 p.m.

In addition, the Knights will host Chicago (11-5-2) and St. Scholastica (20-2-0) that will play in the next game at 3:30 p.m..

The winners of Saturday's games will advance to Sunday's second-round game at 1 p.m..

This marks the ninth NCAA tournament appearance and is the second consecutive appearance for the Orange and Black that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen last year. Wartburg is 9-6-3 all-time in the NCAA tourney.

The Series
The Knights have never played MSOE before.

Against Chicago, the Knights are 1-0-1. The last meeting was in 2009 in the First-round of the NCAA tournament, where Wartburg won 2-1.

The Orange and Black are 1-0-1 against St. Scholastica and won the last meeting 1-0 in 2012.

A Look at the Teams
Wartburg
The Knights got an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the IIAC Championship over Loras by drawing a 2-2 double overtime tie and beating them in penalty kicks 5-4.

Senior Dan Nadeau (White Bear Lake, Minn.) leads the team with 12 goals and 10 assists, junior Zubeen Azari (Spirit Lake) has nine goals and sophomore Paris Martins (Coralville) has added six goals and six assists.

Junior goalkeeper Austin Boyke (Verona, Wis.) has 37 saves, a .787 save percentage and six shutouts.

MSOE
The Raiders shut out Dominican (Ill.) by a final score of 1-0 to win the NACC Championship to earn the automatic bid to the tournament.

They are led by freshman Braden Andryk (Hartland, Wis.) who has 11 goals and his older brother, junior Logan has 10. Senior goalkeeper Garrett Farin (Madison, Wis.) has 77 saves and nine shutouts on the season.

Chicago
The Maroons won the UAA Conference Championship and got an automatic bid to the tournament by beating Washington-St. Louis by a final score of 1-0.

Sophomore Brenton Desai (Brighton, Mich.) and senior Kyle Kurfirst (Western Springs, Ill.) pace their team with seven goals apiece. Freshman goalkeeper Hill Bonin has 58 saves and seven shutouts on the season.

St. Scholastica
The Saints are on a 17-game win streak and got an automatic bid to the tournament by winning the UMAC championship 4-1 over Minnesota-Morris.

They are led by freshman Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales) with 24 goals, freshman Kyle Farrar (Sevenoaks, England) 23 goals and junior Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England) 21 goals. Freshman goalkeeper Jacob Ballheimer (Gerrards Cross, England) has 14 shutouts on the season.

Tickets
Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students and children.

All games will be played at the Wartburg Soccer Complex on Wartburg's campus.
