Knights Split With Norse

WAVERLY, Iowa-- Wartburg split its first doubleheader of the Iowa Conference series against Luther Tuesday. The Norse claimed the first game, 9-1 before the Knights won the nightcap, 11-2.

Luther plated two runs in the second and five in the third to take the 7-0 lead. The Orange and Black plated their lone run in the fifth as Craig Kerper drove in Joe Grote.

The Norse scored an additional run in the sixth and seventh to seal the win. Grote led Wartburg at the plate as he went 2-3, including a double.

In the nightcap, the opposite rang true as the Knights jumped to an 8-0 lead after their first at-bats. Jackson Litterer went 2-2 in just that frame.

The Orange and Black extended their margin with two runs in the second to make the score 10-0 in their favor.

The Norse got on the board in the sixth on a two-run double. Clay Emmrich drove in the final run for Wartburg with his RBI single up the middle to score Ryan Kemp.

Litterer led all hitters as he finished 3-5.

Other Notes:
Powers is 6th in career hits with 189 and needs 11 to move into fifth.
He is also 4th in career assists with 318


The Knights return to action this weekend when they travel to face Simpson Friday at 3:30 p.m.
